Reno headlines speakers at Community Relations conference
Miami — A number of national and local leaders are scheduled to speak at the first National Conference on Community Relations, slated for Mar. 12 — 15 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, U.S. Commission on Human Rights Director Mary Berry, Raoul Izaguirre, president of the National Council of La Raza; and Rose Ochi, director of community relations for the U.S. Department of Justice, will join Metro-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas and other local leaders at the conference, which will examine the impact of community relations on local governments.
A comprehensive program of seminars and workshops will focus on how community relations are affected by immigration, the judicial system, law enforcement, education, the media, religious and human rights organizations, the public and private sectors and other institutions.
