Security has been at the top of the national agenda since the tragedies of Sept. 11, and millions of dollars are being targeted to pay for the Herculean security effort. Increasing security often means adding manpower, but in this modern digital age it can also mean adding technology, whether in the form of access control systems, video surveillance, photo ID cards, bomb detectors, intrusion detection, perimeter security devices, or a long list of other proven technologies.
These technologies play a critical role in securing the nation’s corporate and institutional landscape. Since Sept. 11, there has been a call to increase their implementation in the public sector — at government buildings and institutions at all levels. With this first issue of Government Security, we focus our attention squarely on new opportunities for these proven technologies in the public sector. We welcome your feedback.
