Mergers and Acquisitions Continue at Rapid Pace Among Government Contractors
In a quickly expanding industry, 42 percent of government contractors surveyed have been approached to sell their companies in the past year, according to Grant Thornton LLPs 10th Annual Government Contractor Industry Survey.
During 2003 there were 147 mergers of government service/technology companies. Contributing factors include an attractive valuation environment, in which many publicly held government contractors have accessed the capital markets to build a war chest for acquisitions, says Kerry Hall, a partner with Grant Thornton. The survey provides a comprehensive look at the continued industry growth, coupled with the current emphasis on compliance and ethics resulting in new risks and opportunities.
