New Camera-Like Devices Nothing To Fear
Conroe, TX, Police are using sensors at some intersections to activate traffic signals when vehicles are on the roadway. The sensors were installed aboveground to facilitate easier replacement.
Some citizens have questioned officers about the devices because they appear similar to cameras. A portion of these inquiries are likely the result of Houston’s plan to install cameras along the highways.
The new sensors, which are prevalent in The Woodlands area, are designed to improve the flow of traffic.
Texas Department of Transportation engineer Karen Baker notes that the sensors can tell “when a vehicle approaches the intersection and can effect a change in the lights to make traffic flow more efficient.”
