County Beta Tests Sourcing Software
Buncombe County, NC, has been a beta user of a landmark-developed application designed to support the acquisition of goods and services with a balance of cost, quality, and service, while following internal controls and external regulatory compliance requirements.
“We sought to improve our relationships with our suppliers and reduce the time and costs associated with sourcing events through more efficient electronic processes,” says Sonia Burgin, Project Manager for Buncombe County. “[The software] allows us to have greater visibility into our spending, increasing our control over the source-to-settle process.”
Landmark applications are specifically designed to deploy in a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and allow creator and customer to more quickly modify business processes and adapt to rapidly changing business or technology needs.
The county was able to incorporate new requirements delivered as part of the beta software instead of waiting until the next product release, illustrating how landmark-developed applications differ from traditional development approaches.
Lawson Software’s Strategic Sourcing application automates the county’s request for proposal (RFP), bid analysis, and bid award processes. A bid tracking system supports compliance with federal, state, or locally mandated requirements.
