The families of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks want their loved ones’ names arranged in order at the New York memorial where the World Trade Center once stood. New York Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with the memorial’s architect, want the names listed randomly to remove any sense of hierarchy and to show the “haphazard brutality of the attacks,” according to The New York Times. The families are withholding support for the memorial until they get their way, an action that could affect fundraising efforts.
