The Lower Manhattan Development Corp. has almost completed its mission to rebuild the area south of Houston Street following the destruction of the World Trade Center. The state agency’s 54 employees could be out of work in a few months, and any unfinished business, like the construction of a memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, will be turned over to other agencies, according to The New York Times. The LMDC has selected the master plan for the area where the WTC towers stood, allocated $2.7 million in federal grants and planned the revitalization of Fulton Street.
