The candidates for Nueces County, Texas, sheriff sniped at each other during a recent forum over dirty conditions at the jail. The Democratic candidate Jimmy Rodriguez, currently the chief deputy at the jail, said his department was responsible for the jail being dirty but blamed larger plumbing and water system problems on the county government, according to the Corpus Christi Caller. Republican Jim Kaelin said nobody from the sheriff’s office brought the problem to the county’s Commissioners Court.
