Cooperative purchasing pact may speed IT stimulus spending

Herndon, Va.-based GTSI Corp. has won a seven-year (four base years and three option years) U.S. Communities Technology Services and Solutions Contract. Fairfax County, Va., awarded the contract, through which 90,000 state and local government agencies in the United States can buy GTSI products and services in the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance.

GTSI, an IT infrastructure solutions and services provider to government, previously held a U.S. Communities contract to provide IT services and products. Since the award of the first contract in 2003, GTSI has worked with state and local governments in several IT disciplines, including physical security, mobile evidence capture, unified communications, green IT, cloud computing, document management, enterprise-wide imaging and healthcare applications.

GTSI's U.S. Communities contract is pre-competed, enabling public agencies to shorten their procurement processes and meet tight stimulus funding deadlines.

U.S. Communities’ Government Purchasing Alliance is a nationwide purchasing cooperative designed to be a procurement resource for local and state government agencies, school districts (K-12), higher education, nonprofits and publicly funded healthcare organizations. The organization estimates that 400 public agencies register each month for the cooperative.
