ICMA accepting applications for Annual Awards (with related video)
The Washington-based International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is now accepting applications for its Annual Awards Program. The deadline to submit an application is March 16.
The awards honor “creative contributions to professional local government management and [increase] public awareness of the value of professional management to the quality of life in our communities,” according to the ICMA website. The program is divided into two categories: the Professional Awards, which honor the individual achievements of chief administrative officers, assistant administrators and others, and the Program Excellence Awards, which are awarded to local governments in recognition of creative programs. A panel of 17 U.S. and international ICMA members will evaluate the nominations.
The individual Professional Awards include the Award for Career Excellence, the Award for Career Development, the Assistant Excellence in Leadership Award and the Academic Award.
Categories in the Program Excellence Awards include community health and safety, community partnerships, sustainability and strategic leadership. The Program Excellence Awards are presented for each of three population ranges: less than 10,000, 10,000-49,999, and 50,000 and larger. For more information on the categories, visit the Awards Program page of ICMA’s website and this list of frequently asked questions.
Applications can be downloaded here and must be emailed to [email protected]. Mailed or faxed applications will not be accepted. View a list of 2011 Awards Program winners, and watch the interview below with previous award winner San Antonio, Texas, Manager Sheryl Sculley.
