Judge says ‘Idiot’ driver must wear a sign
Sometimes, justice is sublime. Case in point: A Cleveland woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid stopping for a school bus that was unloading children has been ordered to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.
According to The Associated Press (AP), a Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered the 32-year-old woman to stand at the intersection for two days. She must wear a sign: “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”
Station WKYC posted a video of the woman’s car barreling down a sidewalk on East 38th Street across from the school bus — which had stopped to pick up a wheelchair bound student. It wasn’t the first time. Witnesses said they had seen the woman drive onto the sidewalk previously to avoid the bus, which was stopped with its stop sign and flashing lights activated.
Tipped off by the bus driver, this time police were waiting. The judge sentenced the woman to wear the “idiot” sign for two days from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Her license was also suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs. Our take: She got off light.
