Tragedy at the Boston Marathon
What we do know: there were two explosions at The Boston Marathon today. What we don’t know: the reason.
News outlets including The Wall Street Journal, CNN, The New York Times and The Huffington Post are reporting two dozen injured as two loud booms preceded eruptions of fire and debris near the finish line of the race. The New York Times is reporting at least two casualties.
Graphic images from the site show the bloody and battered being led away from the scene by emergency personnel. The blasts occurred just before 3 p.m. today. According to Reuters, the remainder of the race has been cancelled and the marathon’s headquarters is on lockdown.
Though wild speculations have ranged from terrorism to faulty pipes, there seems to be consensus that there were four explosive devices, two of which have been found and dismantled.
We will continue to follow this story as it unfolds. Citizens with any information are encouraged to call 800-494-TIPS.
