Harris Corp. recently unveiled a gloved-hand knob kit to accompany its XG-75, a single-band rugged handheld radio developed for firefighters working in adverse conditions. The radio delivers multi-mode operation, clear voice quality, secure communications and assured interoperability, said Mark Tesh, Harris’ product manager specializing in advanced development at the company’s Lynchburg, Va., engineering headquarters.
“It is a hardened package with a simplified user interface and controls, so a firefighter who is in a burning building on their hands and knees can still operate it,” Tesh said. “The radio includes specialized accessories that are optimized for firefighters.”
