Washington D.C. transit authority settles $4.24 million federal lawsuit
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority used federal funds on a no-bid contract and had to pay a multimillion settlement.
Federal funds come with strings attached, including a requirement for competitive bidding, and, as the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) found out this week, not following these requirements can be costly.
