Governments can use this fabric building for bulk storage (with related video)
The Commodity HD Building is a fabric structure for municipalities, public works departments, government facility departments, construction crews, supply depots, fleet operations and other public sector agencies. The structure features an open side that simplifies bulk and aggregate storage. The manufacturer is South Windsor, Conn.-based ClearSpan.
The unit’s open side provides easy access for multiple vehicles. The building provides simultaneous access to numerous bucket loaders or trucks. The building’s design also allows for the structure to be broken down into separate storage bays. That feature makes it easy to keep aggregate materials separate. The structure offers maximum clearance, enabling large equipment to be easily operated and maneuvered within it. Each building has open ends, allowing access to three of the sides.
The building (photo below to the left) provides efficient storage with direct access to individual commodity bays. The structure can also function as a garage. Its design allows direct access to equipment without needing to shuffle other things stored in the way.
Commodity HD Buildings can be clad with custom covers and end panels. For building operators looking to cover the open side, side panels are available to either partially or completely enclose the side.
The structure is also built to withstand corrosive environments, making it an ideal solution for salt storage, marine applications and more. The frame is built from American-made, triple-galvanized steel, and each building is covered with 12.5-ounce, 24-mil rip-stop polyethylene fabric. The fabric is UV-resistant and comes in four color options.
ClearSpan Commodity HD Buildings come with product warranties, which include 50 years on the frame and 20 years on the cover. The fabric structures provides design-build solutions for material, equipment and other storage needs. The firm’s buildings feature abundant natural light and spacious interiors without internal support posts. With minimal foundation requirements, the structures can be permanent or temporary and are easy to relocate.
