Coupler lock helps halt trailer theft
The off-vehicle coupler lock secures a trailer when it’s not attached to a vehicle. The device offers a visible and functional sign of security and helps prevent costly trailer theft. BOLT is the manufacturer.
The device features the manufacturer’s one-key lock technology. The system permanently programs locks to the vehicle’s ignition key for single-key use no matter how many BOLT locks are being used. The lock is easily programmed the first time the ignition key is inserted into the BOLT Lock cylinder. The locking assembly has spring-loaded plate tumblers that move up and down to uniquely code the cylinder to that specific key.
The assembly is made of hardened steel for security. The device works with 1 7/8-, 2-, and 2 15/16-inch couplers. It helps keep a variety of trailers secure while unattended. The product is a visible theft deterrent that is designed with a plate tumbler sidebar to prevent picking and bumping. The unit’s powder-coated finish is factory applied to the lock to keep dirt and moisture out while protecting the locking mechanism from harsh weather.
The product gives trailer owners piece-of-mind that their investment is secure when not in use. Since the lock works with the vehicle ignition key, users never have to worry about keeping track of an extra key.
The manufacturer’s product line includes padlocks, cable locks, coupler pin locks, king pin locking systems and receiver locks as well as a toolbox latch retrofit kit. The manufacturer’s locks come with a limited lifetime warranty.
