Public Service Recognition Week celebrates government employees
This week (May 2-8) is Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW). Celebrated during the first week of May since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week honors the people who serve the United States as federal, state, county, local and tribal government employees.
In a joint statement from PSRW Co-Chairs, the Partnership for Public Service said: ‘These steadfast public servants are the researchers, scientists and legislators we trust to innovate amid the distress of a pandemic and an economic crisis. They are the protectors we trust to defend our shores, our borders and our computer networks. They are the teachers we trust to educate our children, over screens or in classrooms. They are the law enforcement officers we count on to safeguard us. They are the leaders we trust to preserve our nation’s rich and complicated history and protect our natural wonders.”
The celebration includes virtual events, social media toolkits (share #PSRW celebrations across platforms) and activity sheets for kids. A celebration toolkit is available, offering ideas on how to honor and recognize government employees this week, and to interact with the public and educate them about what public employees do.
