Herc Rentals Helps California City to Swiftly Set Up COVID-19 Vaccination Site
Background: COVID-19 has turned into a global pandemic with more than 171 million cases and 3.55 million deaths worldwide. In California, where the virus spread rapidly, total cases exceed 3.79 million and deaths attributed to COVID-19 surpassed 63,248 as of June 1, 2021.
Seeking to stem the spread of the virus, California counties, cities and organizations began mobilizing a mass vaccination plan as soon as the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines became available.
The city of Irvine, which has approximately 1,500 employees serving an estimated population of 287,401, was tasked with setting up a COVID-19 vaccination site to begin administering vaccinations to its citizens.
The Challenge: The city of Irvine was tasked with setting up a COVID-19 vaccination pod at the Orange County Great Park in a short amount of time. In addition to the time constraint, the city needed to find a reputable company it worked with in the past and that would be competitively priced.
The Solution: The city of Irvine was familiar with utilizing competitively solicited and publicly awarded contracts through OMNIA Partners, Public Sector. And since Herc Rentals already had a working relationship with the city of Irvine, they were able to provide their equipment rental contract through OMNIA Partners — saving time and money.
The Result: The city of Irvine was able to get the equipment it needed in a short period of time and opened the vaccination pod on schedule.
Herc Rentals was awarded a national cooperative contract by the city of Charlotte, NC, which is made available through OMNIA Partners, Public Sector.
