10 of America’s best coffee shop capitals
If there’s a community behind every coffee shop, then cities with a lot of coffee shops are presumably community minded. A new ranking from Apartment Guide lists the American cities with the highest density of coffee shops, and the most coffee shops per capita. Researchers considered U.S. cities with at least one coffee shop and a population of more than 73,000 people; 483 American cities met that criteria.
“We then calculated the ratio of coffee establishments per 100,000 residents (population density) in each of those cities and ranked them one to 483,” reads an explainer about the findings. “Then, we made the same calculation for the ratio of coffee establishments per square mile (geographic density).”
Both ratios were weighted equally and given a zero-to-100 score.
