Government IT officials get ready for Windows 8
State and local government IT officials can take steps now to prepare for the next version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, Windows 8. In a free webinar on April 26, 2012, “Window of Opportunity: Preparing to Make the Most of Windows 8,” Scott Villinski, Microsoft Optimized Desktop Architect and Team Lead, will explain how organizations can prepare for the new tools and system options.
Villinski will discuss the new security features, speed, flexibility and touch-optimized interface of Windows 8, which provides a platform for new apps. He also will explain how state and local governments can start preparing for the operating system by reviewing licenses and developing apps for the new platform.
The webinar is part of a free virtual conference presented by American City & County and sponsored by Microsoft. The event —“Your Cloud. Your future. Your move. Game-changing decisions in government” — will be held on April 26 from 1 to 4 pm EST. The session is part of the two-day, virtual conference that includes a total of five education sessions. Attendees also can attend free workshops on April 27 from 11 am to 5 pm EST that will explore other Microsoft tools designed to improve productivity and flexibility in government IT operations.
