Complaint Targets SBA’s Noncompletion of Women’s Procurement Program
The U.S. District Court has refused to dismiss the complaint filed by the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce against the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for failure to implement the Women’s Procurement Program.
U.S. District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton found the SBA’s unreasonable, five-year delay has sabotaged implementation. The judge will closely monitor the progress of the proposed schedule for implementation submitted by SBA.
As part of the SBA reauthorization in 2000, Congress passed what was originally titled the “Equity in Contracting for Women of 2000” Act, allowing contracts in industries historically under represented by women-owned small businesses, to be reserved for competition by the same group.
