Group’s Contribution to Public Safety Awarded
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has been presented an Award of Appreciation for its contribution to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program.
APCO and CALEA jointly developed the program in 1996 in an effort to promote professional excellence in the nation’s public safety communications 9-1-1 call centers. To date, more than 30 public safety communications centers from across the United States have achieved this status.
“APCO is honored by an award from such a distinguished organization,” says APCO International President Greg Ballentine. “We continue to maintain a positive relationship with CALEA and look forward to the work products that will come from that relationship in the future.”
APCO is the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to enhancing public safety communications. The group serves 17,000 members worldwide.
