NASPO Honors Innovative State Procurement With Cronin Awards
The 2006 Cronin Classic Innovation Gold Award winner is the State of New York for their Hazardous Incident Response Equipment (HIRE) contract. Through their multi-state cooperative contract, the State of New York is currently leading sixteen other states who agreed to pool demand and leverage their buying power to get the best pricing for the products needed.
The Silver Award went to the State of Rhode Island for their Fiscal Fitness Initiative. This initiative, affectionately coined “The Big Audit”, has created a detailed analysis of processes, procedures, and areas of potential improved efficiency, particularly in the procurement of goods and services.
The 2006 Cronin Information Technology Gold Award winner is the State of Hawaii for their Compliance Express program (HCE). HCE is an innovative new online service that provides cross-agency functionality and allows businesses and individuals who provide services for the state and local agencies to quickly and easily demonstrate they comply with all laws governing vendors doing business with the state.
Since 1985, the Cronin Awards have recognized innovative state procurement programs and promoted the sharing of ideas between states. For more information, visit: www.govinfo.bz/5969-123.
