A four-stroke (rather than two-stroke) engine enables the M240 hole digger to use fuel more efficiently and meet applicable emissions regulations. For optimal power output, the 1.6-horsepower engine’s speed is dictated by a Magura twist-grip throttle control. The digger, with a maximum drilling torque of 55 foot-pounds, accommodates earth augers ranging from 2 to 8 inches in diameter. To protect against damage from overload and/or auger contact with buried obstructions, the M240 features an all-metal centrifugal slip clutch.
