Resource: Directory of parks and recreational areas
The Parks Directory of the United States-6th edition is a guide to more than 5,000 national and state parks, historic sites, battlefields, monuments, forests, preserves, memorials, seashores, trails, heritage areas, marine sanctuaries, wildlife refuges, and other designated recreational areas in the U.S. that are administered by federal and state park agencies. The 1,100-page volume includes listings for Canadian national parks. Omnigraphics publishes the directory.
The directory has brief descriptions on each park unit, including facilities, activities, established date and special features. It has contact information to enable users to reach out to individual parks, park agencies, and their regional offices. Each description includes postal address, website, phone number and park acreage totals. Nearby cities and towns are listed for each entry. Descriptive listings for more than 300 park and conservation organizations are provided in the volume.
The directory is suited for public and college libraries, job-seekers, people planning a vacation, parks directors, vendors and federal/state/local government officials.
Editor’s note: The June Government Product News will have a Playgrounds, Parks and Recreation Facilities products section featuring descriptions for a variety of products. Please send product news releases for the section to [email protected].
