The most recent EquipmentWatch INDEX report has been released. The report offers a quick snapshot of price, volume and age trends for a variety of equipment that EquipmentWatch tracked during October 2013.

The latest INDEX shows the following highlights that EquipmentWatch researchers observed over the past month:
— The Northeast US saw average resale prices drop 2.1 percent, while volume increased 4.8 percent.
— The average age of equipment increased in the resale market, but decreased in the auction market.
In the resale market, the average age for Caterpillar equipment increased from 7.4 to 7.7 years, a 4 percent increase.
The latest EquipmentWatch INDEX shows some changes in the equipment marketplace among the states. “Compared to the previous month, the average price of equipment listed in Minnesota and Indiana increased by almost 10 and 7 percent, respectively” says Patrick Dogan, who is analytics manager for EquipmentWatch. Dogan adds: “In a month that saw volume decline nationwide, Delaware and New Mexico bucked the trend and saw equipment listings increase compared to last month.”
