Global professional services firm lands cooperative purchasing contract
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) and its Public Sector Practice have been awarded a multi-year contract to provide consulting services through the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance.
Fairfax County, Va., the lead public agency on the contract, conducted a competitive solicitation and evaluation before making the award. A&M won the contract based on its record of delivering operational solutions in government, education and not-for-profit organizations.
The contract reflects U.S. Communities’ commitment to support the transformation of public agencies that must respond to delivering their missions in the face of constrained resources. The firm has formed partnerships with Harvard Ash Center/Innovation in American Government, Code for America and The Alliance for Innovation to assist with providing resources and the national use of innovative solutions and applications. The award to A&M is one example of that commitment.
The exclusive contract gives more than 90,000 public sector entities, such as state agencies, local governments, special districts, school districts, and public and nonprofit higher education institutions, access to A&M’s expertise and hands-on experience with government-wide turnaround strategies, health and human services solutions, and K-12 turnaround initiatives.
A&M has helped public sector leaders analyze operations, seize opportunities and effect functional change to impact service delivery and budget management in various economic climates. According to the company, its strengths in operations, compliance and turnaround accelerate its ability to help various entities and institutions succeed in complex, time-sensitive, and highly regulated environments.
A&M was selected as a part of this solicitation based on their proposal, says Cathy Muse, director for the Department of Purchasing and Supply Management for Fairfax County, Va.
Some previous A&M public sector engagements include: rebuilding and reopening New Orleans’ public schools after Hurricane Katrina; advising U.S. Territories on the management of federal grants; and implementing initiatives at education programs that saved operating costs, while increasing performance outcomes.
Privately-held since 1983, A&M is a global professional services firm that delivers business performance improvement, turnaround management and advisory services to organizations seeking to transform operations, catapult growth and accelerate results through decisive action.
According to the firm’s website, the company has expertise in automotive, energy, health care, infrastructure, insurance, manufacturing, real estate, retail, transportation and other industries.
