Equipment teams win fleet management awards

The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) and Construction Equipment honored Henkels & McCoy Pipeline Division and Schlouch, Inc., as the 2016 Fleet Masters recipients. The organizations were cited during the AEMP’s 34th Management Conference and Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas.

Fleet Masters honors have been presented since 2004 to recognize outstanding equipment management teams that excel in meeting the challenges inherent in cost-effective, efficient, and effective management of mixed fleets. A panel of industry experts selects honorees that have demonstrated outstanding fleet management capabilities through finance, information, technology, innovation, workforce development, safety, supplier relations and maintenance.

Gil Gilbert, fleet director of Henkels & McCoy Pipeline said, “Embracing new technologies, looking beyond their basic capabilities, all while empowering good people to excel is the best recipe for achieving world-class results in managing a world class fleet.” The company is a  utility construction firm that provides infrastructure for the power, communications, oil and gas pipeline and gas distribution markets throughout North America.

Barry Schlouch, president of Schlouch Inc., said, “The Schlouch Fleet Management Team understands that the front line creates the bottom line. Our primary internal customer is the field user of all fleet assets and services, and they are dependent on our fleet management efforts to maintain competitive equipment cost rates to consistently win a profitable backlog.” Schlouch says his team has remained focused on maintaining an acceptable level of equipment reliability since the firm joined AEMP in 2005. The company performs commercial, public, and residential site preparation work.

AEMP was formed in 1980 and is based in Glenwood Springs, Colo. The organization represents professional asset managers who oversee off-road fleets as well as fleet professionals who work worldwide in construction, government, utilities, energy, and mining.
