Truck package enables police to deliver public safety services (with related video)
The 2016 Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle package helps police officers do their jobs. It is available in XL trim for either F-150 SuperCrew or SuperCab configurations. The package includes easy-clean rear vinyl bench seating and flooring. The rear seat is swapped out for a vinyl bench on the vehicle. The center console is removed so police departments and roadside assistance fleets can add their own custom equipment. The new setup (photo below on right) is also available for the Ford Expedition.
A high-output 240-amp alternator replaces the stock unit to accommodate for extended idle times. Standard 40/20/40 seats are replaced with 40/blank/40 seats, with the center section removed to create more space for customization.
Customers can opt for the package in a 4×4 or 4×2 drivetrain, along with the 5.0-liter V8 or high-torque 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine.
“Many officers need the extra space F-150 Special Service Vehicle offers,” says Stephen Tyler, Ford police marketing manager. “They can load the cargo box with equipment and still fit five people inside.
