A Thanksgiving wish
There isn’t a more American holiday than Thanksgiving, a day where family and friends sit together to appreciate how lucky we are to live in our country. For American Servicemen and women, we can welcome them to our table by writing at least one of them a letter saying how much we appreciate what they are doing. Following is mine.
A Thanksgiving Wish for American Servicemen and Women
Here’s to a time that may never come, when we will not need men and women like you who are willing to serve overseas for the rest of us.
Here’s to you for being brave, not just for placing yourself in harm’s way, but for giving up time with your friends and family, all of whom I’m sure miss you and even worry about you, probably more than you know.
Here’s to our country, which gave my four grandparents a place to come and be safe and have a chance at a better life for them and their children, and as it turned out, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Here’s to your coming back soon, safe and unharmed physically and mentally to the people who love you.
And, here’s to our future when we won’t need your sacrifice because of what you’ve done.
And may it come in your lifetime.
