Beware the Moleman

Seattle authorities are on the lookout for Moleman.
 
No, he’s not a comic book villain; he’s an elusive individual who has been digging elaborate ditches in a Beacon Hill park, according to numerous sources.
 
"They call him the Moleman," Ed Newbold, who lives in the Beacon Hill area, told CBS News. "He has a fear of what he calls ‘noxious weeds,’ and he's dug up about [a] half-acre of the area."
 
And these aren’t run-of-the-mill holes. Moleman has constructed steps and irrigation systems for his ditches, which are often covered by a thatchwork of branches, CBS reports. The city is responsible for filling in the massive holes, work that can cost thousands of dollars.

Newbold told CBS he’s complained about Moleman for at least four years and is frustrated by the city’s inability to evict him.
 
"They are ignoring their own responsibility," Newbold told the station. "As stewards of this land, they should be doing something about it."
 
It seems the city has finally taken notice, though. According to local TV station KIRO 7, late last month, parks and recreation officials searched for Moleman to give him a no trespass order.

City officials told KIRO 7 the man is homeless, and they will attempt to get him involved in social service programs to find him an acceptable place to live.  The city also issued a “notice to remove” at Moleman’s encampment.
