Caring Cops: Beds for Kids
While responding to a call, Seattle Police Officers Ryan Gallagher and Jeremy Wade met two young girls living in a home where they had no beds. Heartbroken by the girl’s circumstances, the officers decided to take action.
Using their own money, Wade and Gallagher purchased two new twin beds from Ikea and personally delivered them to the girls. The family was grateful and the girls were ecstatic, according to The Good News Network.
Moved by the experience, Wade and Gallagher founded Beds for Kids, an organization dedicated to ensuring children have safe, comfortable sleeping arrangements.
“There are probably hundreds of kids without beds in the Seattle area,” Wade said in a statement.
Beds for Kids partnered with the Seattle Police Foundation and Ikea to purchase beds for children. So far, the program has received $2,000 in donations from the community, with Ikea donating $5,000 worth of bedding supplies.
The beds will be presented to children starting September 6th. Click here for more information on the program, and click here for information on how to donate.
