The District of Columbia once again has been denied the option of imposing a tax on commuters without congressional permission. According to the Washington Times, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to revive a lawsuit that would allow the tax on the more than 500,000 people who come and go from the city every day. However, Congress still is considering a bill that would give the district $800 million annually in compensation. http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20060515-114158-5272r.htm
